Artist Commission: Paignton & Preston Coastal Defences

As part of the Torbay Great Place Scheme, art producer Ginkgo Projects is working with Torbay Culture, Torbay Council and TDA to develop Think Place, an action research project that is seeking to foster place distinctiveness through encouraging greater interaction and collaboration between land based and cultural sectors within Torbay. This project forms part of Think Place and seeks to explore new working relationships and practices.

Over the next few years the flood sea wall defences protecting Paignton and Preston will be reinforced to provide 1 in 200 year protection of flooding. We are seeking an artist or designer experienced in surface and pattern design to develop concept designs that can be integrated into the surface treatment of new flood protection walling.

Fixed fee of £3,500 ex. vat and inclusive of expenses.
