Cultural Tourism in Torbay
Torbay Culture, TDA and the English Riviera BID Company have together set their sights on increasing the number of cultural tourists coming to the Bay by developing holiday itineraries, trails and guides to share the real story of the area. Wonder Associates in collaboration with Canny Marshall have been commissioned to create a set of renewed itineraries, trails and insider guides.
Their work so far has seen them develop four themes, identified as the most authentic experiences available in the Bay and showcasing the area’s creative scene, cultural heritage and the unique landscape of the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark:
Slow Down and Speed Up- Mental and physical wellbeing are high on the agenda. The Bay can tap into both the slow tourism movement and an increasing desire for adventure and activity breaks.
Well Read– A celebration of literature in the Bay – the written, spoken and sung word. A trail will feature the birthplace of Agatha Christie, historic icons and influencers, and the home of today’s incredible established and emerging talent.
Artisans & Makers–There is remarkable yet hidden creative talent here. With opportunity for visitor immersion, get the insider’s guide: step inside the life of an artisan via open studios, workshops and experiences for individuals and groups.
The itineraries, trails, guides and tours are currently in development for launch in 2019/2020. There will be more information coming soon on what’s in them, where to access them and how to share them with tourists near and far.
